I live in a fairly quiet part of Hollywood-- tree lined and full of small Craftsman homes built around 1915 and Spanish Renaissance homes around 1925. Not until I got to know the history of the area did I know that I am surrounded by famous movie locations-- one of which is the original exterior location of 1984's Nightmare on Elm Street.
I wrote about the house back in 2006, when it originally appeared on the market. And after a huge renovation with the new owner, the house is back on the market and for sale.
The listing for the house is being held by Ted Fleming and Rodeo Realty.
"Spectacular Traditional/Modernist Fusion in this 2 -story, Spaulding Square home. Situated mid-block on a picturesque tree-lined street, your buyers are greeted by a classic center hall floor plan, with formal rooms to the front of the home, and open-plan kitchen/family room to the rear, flowing to lovely pool, garden and full 'guest house' with kitchen and bath....
All redone for the current owner. Refined design aesthetic and finesse in every detail, this turn-key property includes everything for in-town living, with privacy, sophistication and serenity. Listed at $2.1 million."
A dream of organizing the Nightmare house:
No kidding, when the home was being renovated in 2006, I had this dream (or was it a nightmare?) of organizing the basement. What would Norman Bates think? We did write about working in an old house in Hollywood that we swore was haunted.
