Young Hollywood Home - Step Into Their Red Carpeted Closet

For the fall of 2007, we're pitching to participate in Hollywood Life Magazine's "Young Hollywood Home."  There are no bites yet....

But take a look at these pictures and you'll know why we want to participate.

Hollywood Life's Young Hollywood Dream Closet (designed by Mary McGee and Creative Closetworks,) which was part of our Young Hollywood Home at the Pacific Design Center last fall, gives you a taste of the names, trends and products currently stocking the shelves of today's most in-the-know fashionistas, so take a look inside and become in-the-know yourself.

"IN TODAY'S PAPARAZZI-INFUSED WORLD, STARS ARE photographed just as much off the red carpet as on it, and Hollywood's newest crop of style icons must be able to update their everyday looks and stay ahead of the trends with the same ease that they turn on the glamour in classic designer gowns. This means that young stars are constantly seeking out the most cutting-edge new looks to add to their personal collections."

The stars are just as interested in the actual closets themselves, as much as the clothes in them.  Check it out.

Three Charles Schulz "Peanuts" strips sell for $89,275

We once had a client in Long Beach who insisted their nickname was Pigpen.

Not because of their clutter, but because they insisted they were a terrible artist.  They felt like their drawings were more like scribbles than fine art.

Well, scribbles on paper can be more valuable than Paris Hilton's trash.  Depends on who you ask and what the market will pay.

Case in point:  Philip Weiss Auctions just sold some original Charles Schulz comic strips. Three of them – two dailies and a Sunday – sold for a combined $89, 275 at a multi-estate sale held the weekend of September 8-9, in Oceanside, New York, on Long Island.

Additional strips will go up for auction at Weiss' next auction October 20-21.  Up for sale is a 'Great Pumpkin' Sunday page and a baseball Sunday page.

Pigpen doesn't look so bad after all! Maybe he just needs a makeover?

One Organized Chick - Cathy, a stay-at-home mother (SAHM) for EIGHT years, who loves all things organized.  Heck yea!  Can this one woman organize the entire country of Canada?  She sure has the energy!

Organized Solutions - A new blog written by Angie Weid, a pro organizer from Temperance, Michigan (and Ohio).  She claims to be a rocket scientist and a super-hero to her boys.  Angie has doubled her number of clients this year and she tripled her billing hours.  Also wants to appear on Oprah.  She may be crazy (as a child, she tried to dig a hole to China!) but her blog is sure a fun, professional read.

Lifehacker is a software and productivity blog, covering tips for streamlining your life with computers (and sometimes without)..... While certainly not new, we're adding Lifehacker to our list of A-list blogs.  We, like many, credit Lifehacker for making our blog successful.  Lifehacker mentioned our posts many times including this resource list for garage organizing, ideas for paper file organizing, effective stand-up meetings and how to reduce stress.

One Couple Gives Up Bondage and Succumbs to Clutter

Warning:  This post is NOT for the faint of heart.

Clutter has gone controversal, and satirical.  Recyling has gotten out of control.

Not too long ago, the Onion published a very, very naughty satirical article about an Illinois couple who became overcome with modern life, children, junk mail, unsolicited catalogs, Home Depot receipts, unread issues of O, The Oprah Magazine and medical bills.

If you didn't know, The Onion is a parody newspaper published weekly in print and online, daily.  Wikipedia has a long list of published articles that went overboard.  This one is no exception.

Clean House Comes Clean About How Much Time Goes Into Organization Television

Our friend Monica is always talking about how much time goes into her work on the television show Mission: Organization.

Monica Ricci has always mentioned the lowest amount of hours spent on the show, and the highest.  The numbers were pretty spectacular (yes, she was organized and tracked all her time.)

Along with that number, there is a new extreme statistic from the stars of TV's Clean House.  You've got to read all the amount of time that goes into these television shows.  Check it out after the jump.

Jeff Lewis of Flipping Out - Flipping Homes with Perfection. But Is His Perfection a Gift to the Organizing Industry?

The New York Times may call him a delusional jerk, but has Jeff Lewis been a gift to the organization industry?

Jeff Lewis (pictured left) of Bravo TV's Flipping Out, is just so much fun.  He's crazy, and obsessively compulsive, and just the kind of person we love to hate.

But one thing for sure (putting aside everyone's fixation on his so-called botox injections), Jeff Lewis is a model for ultra-organization.  Even if his needs seem over the top, he gives us all knowledge that being organized takes time, maintenance and person-power.  You need more help when your home is bigger, less when it's smaller.  So keep it simple.  I think Americans need to see OCD extremes, so they know how they fit-in.  Don't you agree?

His open houses showcase snippets of potential clients whispering how perfect his closets are organized.  Lewis's hijinks are highly dramatic when his contractors, real estate agents, plumbers, sexy assistants and sub-contractor are nudged to save $25.  During the final episode Lewis appeared to go ballistic when the garage door contractors neglected to remove stickers off the doors (we agree with him.)  And the stakes are high, he can't let his properties stay on the market for too long.  All of this is a rush that feeds on itself.

We were working in the Hollywood Hills two weeks ago.  A marketing flyer appeared on the steps going up to the house-- from Boni Bryant-- Lewis' Los Feliz Realtor.  The flyer showcased Lewis's for-sale homes, including Ben Lomond (pictured above) and Valley Oak properties.

The show seems to be such a big hit, but why are the houses still for sale?
