Freeways in Los Angeles are famous for fast-moving cars and for moving hurried Angelinos from point A to point B. What they're not famous for is moving houses.
An infamous Sig Alert was issued this morning when a home being moved by professional house movers somehow clipped the bottom of the 101 Hollywood Freeway, a major freeway in Los Angeles.
The accident snarled thousands of mucho busy Angelinos in their Range Rovers, BMWs, Mercedes and Prius who were stuck behind a mass of broken wood, pieces of electrical and broken glass strewn about the 8-lane freeway of love.
Casting Directors patiently waited for nervous actors who were late for auditions. Plastic Surgeons in Beverly Hills took a long lunch at the Polo Lounge and Malibu residents were incredulous at the lack of cars driving down PCH--- residents were able to drive into town in less than 2 hours. We even heard of one Universal City Starbucks barista who jumped the security barrier to deliver an iced cappuccino to one hurried Realtor missing their open house.
The alert was issued for the northbound lanes at 9am. KCBS is reporting the driver discovered a blown tire, which raised the roof. The raised roof clipped the overpass on the movers way through Universal City up to Newhall, just north of the city.
Have you ever seen a residential "relocation" that went awry?
