Great moments in professional organizing history continues with another classic Hollywood film, Broadcast News:
"Basket-case network news producer Jane Craig [Holly Hunter] falls for new reporter Tom Grunnick [William Hurt], a pretty boy who represents the trend towards entertainment news she despises. Aaron Altman [Albert Brooks], a talented but plain correspondent, carries an unrequited torch for Jane. Sparks fly between the three as the network prepares for big changes, and both the news and Jane must decide between style and substance."
In one priceless scene, Hurt's character spends a little quality time with Jennifer Mack, a veteran, stylish and sexy network news correspondent, played by Lois Chiles. Following their passionate romp, Hurt has to use the bathroom and gets a glimpse of organizing heaven in Chiles' closet. Here is this time's "great moment in professional organizing history:"
He dances away -- out of range -- liking the action, a stupid
grin on his face.
TOM
Where's the bathroom?
JENNIFER
Through the closet.
He opens the door and turns on the light in the closet.
INT. CLOSET - NIGHT
It is a converted room -- given over the racks of clothes and
shoes extraordinarily well organized. Tom stands there agape.
Various rain coats -- clothes for all climates -- lots of
luggage.
She joins him in the closet -- holding out a sheet in front of
her.
JENNIFER
I am so tired of explaining my closet. I've always been lacking for space so I converted a bedroom -- this stuff builds up. Wait till
you've been doing this sixteen years.
TOM
I'm not knocking it. It's a
great solution. Not only the
storage but you can see everything
you have.
Jennifer laughs -- he follows her gaze and sees himself in
silhouette against the door -- his [private parts] prominent in outline.
JENNIFER
Do you do bunny rabbits?
Tom is enjoying himself immensely.
TOM
Isn't this a great date?
