I was working recently with a Client who had (what seemed like) thousands of records.
I recommended he get this, but he respectfully declined saying he hadn't listened to the albums since Family Ties went off the air. He also told me a story he heard, and I recap it here, with help from the Washington Post:
Some lucky dude named Warren Hill purchased what seems like the first recording by The Velvet Underground, and sold it in December on eBay for $155,401. Hill found the original 1966 test-pressing of an early version of The Velvet Underground & Nico at a New York City sidewalk sale in 2002. He paid 75 cents for it.
Go figure. I would feel terrible if Warren Hill was our client.
So readers, we ask: if you were in our place working with an organizing client, would YOU tell tales like this? We just worry that this will deter any kind of headway we can make letting clients know their collection could be worth millions. Your opinion?
