Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank was so broke as a struggling actress, she had to buy her outfits for auditions and take them back to the store the next day. These days, the Freedom Writers star has a difficult time getting rid of clutter, because she grew up without a lot of stuff.
IMDB reports that Swank is on a mission to give away the swag gifts she's snagged at awards show in recent years, as her leading New Year's resolution:
"Now [that I'm a successful two-time Oscar-winning actress], I'm getting all these free things thrown at me and it's so strange. My New Year's resolution is to get rid of some stuff because I bring it in and I can't get rid of it. With my background, and how I grew up; I didn't grow up with a lot of stuff and now I just have this terrible thing."
