We organize offices, but we also organize lots and lots of homes, catering to not just the Hollywood elite but also to the everyday, on-the-go folks who keep Hollywood running.
So we'd like to write a bit about security, confidentiality, and (briefly) what you need to know about hiring a service provider in your home. But we'd like wrap the information around what seems like something odd actress Halle Berry did recently, when she hired painting contractors to re-do her kitchen cabinets. But to us, the behavior make perfect sense. But why?
Security:
The security of your home and business, your systems and resources, and the confidential information they contain, should be of urgent importance when you have workers in your home.
Excellent security practices are essential to protect your interests. Do your workers (or professional organizer for that matter) employ personal responsibility toward security and adopt proper security practices?
Don't Take the Task Lightly:
According to the Franklin Report, "hiring a service provider to work in your home is not a task to be undertaken lightly. In addition to issues of quality, cost and scheduling, keep that mind that these professionals and their team may become an integral, albeit temporary, part of your life."
Does Halle Put Her Workers Through Hell?
According to TMZ, an Orange County painting company was called to re-paint Berry's kitchen cabinets in her LA-area home which was undergoing extensive remodeling since she bought it in 2005. The price tag for the cabinet repainting was $57,000.
The agreement between the actress and the painting company stipulated that workers were not allowed to approach or speak to the actress at any time, unless she speaks to them.
This Brings Up Something Interesting:
Berry has been renovating her home for more than a year. Do you think she's sick and tired of having general air conditioning and heating men, architects, audio/visual, contractors, builders, electricians, lighting designers, flooring experts, furniture restorers, interior designers, decorators, kitchen and bath designers, landscape architects, mill-work and cabinetry makers, movers, wall-paperers, rug installers, security systems designers, tile, marble and stone boys, window treatmenters and window washers in and around her life for so long?
TMZ says "When you're getting $57,000 to stain kitchen cabinets, one keeps one's mouth shut."
But we don't blame her for putting this in writing.
If you've renovated your home, would you prefer that workers work?
