American homes have evolved... or have they?
That is, unless you feel larger is better. According to this past weekend's Life Magazine, the average home in 1950 was 1,100 square feet. In 1980, it was 1740. By 2005, it grew to 2,434.
But in this weekend's Life Magazine, Film Director Steven Spielberg doesn't seem to care how large his house is, and he doesn't mention all the stuff he had growing up. He mentioned memories-- and all the trips to the shopping center can't make up for that:
"A house is a container for your living memories, and those memories never go away, even long after the family that once called it home has moved on and its rooms are occupied by strangers who now call it a home of their own."
