"What are some quick and easy ways for people to clear out clutter around their desks, closets, cupboards, etc.?" Signed, "Catt in Catalina"
Dear "Catt in Catalina,"
Good question, We remember we received this question in a July 2005 article for Frontiers Newsmagazine, a local Los Angeles publication. Here are 5 Quick Tips from our interview:
What we stressed in the interview that the key word was “use.” Pledge to yourself to not purchase or inherit anything unless you fully intend on using it, and this includes your Jimmy Choos, your Hobo, even that Award Show Gift Bag. Got it? Get it? Good.
Five quick and easy tips to help Catt get started clearing the clutter:
- Line your walls with simple, adjustable shelving, it creates ample, accessible storage.
- Utilize vertical space: shelving, placed just above your computer monitor works wonders for your office supplies, magazines and binders.
- All your storage and accessories should match (color-wise.)
- Dedicate a box or basket to toss unwanted items into for charitable donations. Routinely visit your local charity to empty the box.
- Arrange bookcases with boxes and baskets symmetrically on the shelves. This signals order and makes a cramped room feel larger.
