The Southern California media blitz for home electronics as holiday gifts has begun. At the top of the lists are Plasma and LCD televisions-- and at the top of our client to-do list is hiding wires. You should most definitely hire a professional to install the systems.
If you're still in the discovery phase, and not sure how the whole thing will look, or what to look out for with wire management, check out this product from Design Within Reach (as well as a great L.A. resource if you're looking for custom.)
DWR is offering an unfinished MDF Muro Media Storage option which attaches to the wall. You paint or wallpaper the piece to blend in to your chosen decor. This may be more DIY than you'd desire, but take a look at what they're offering. If you live in a condo or are renting, you may not be able to open up the wall to hide all wires; and this option may be perfect for you because there's ample space to hold cables hiding them from view and giving your room an organized, clean look.
If you're less DIY, like us, Los Angeles' Sunset Studios will be honored to tackle all these multimedia details and bring them up a notch: the company is part psychologist, part interior designer, part engineer as his crew sorts out visual and audio system needs from wiring to component selections. Jon Edwards and his crew also engineer and construct a more upscale home theater that is a considerable notch above Best Buy and Circuit City. If the integration of wires into your cabinetry or the ceiling structure gives you a headache, his average turnkey system averages $50,000 on the low-end. His website details projects and processes to help guide you.
And of course, you'll still need a system to store your remote control-- this is where we come in.
