I read an article last night written by Martha Lagace, Senior Editor of the Harvard Business School Working Knowledge Newsletter-- outlining the disconnect between strategy formulation and strategy execution. Reading it was like candy, and while the study was penned for heavy-duty corporate organizing-- it makes a lot of sense to anyone trying to tackle a physical (or emotional) organizing project in their own home or office.
"Over the past fifteen years, we have studied the root causes of [the] disconnect between strategy and performance. We have learned that most organizations do not have a strategy execution process. Many have strategic plans, but no coherent approach to manage the execution of those plans."
The answer? HBS professor Robert S. Kaplan and colleague Andrew Pateman argue for the creation of a new corporate office. In your own office, there's a gap between you want, and managing the process to your result.
Consider how we as Professional Organizers also act as your Coach--- bringing you proprietary techniques to assess your organizational challenges, clear the clutter, and bring forward systems to make a beautiful life-style-- and we manage the process from start to finish. So you can relax.
