A member of our organizing staff picked up the mail the other day in Beverly Hills and found a Claims Adjuster notice on behalf of Barajas v. The Container Store, Inc.:
"If you, from December 2, 2003, to March 9, 2006, purchased merchandise from The Container Store in the State of California, used a credit card to make the purchase(s), and were asked for your telephone number by The Container Store, you may be entitled to a Discount Voucher and Merchandise Card.
The lawsuit alleges that The Container Store violated California law by requesting and recording the telephone number from customers in California who paid for purchases with a credit card. The Container Store denies that it has done anything wrong, and denies that any class member has been injured or suffered damages."
We suppose this has something to do with privacy laws in California and San Diego. If you do care about this, you'll need to check their website for more information on how you can collect a $10 merchandise card and a possible 20%-off discount voucher for Elfa shelving.
So, readers-- can we get some discussion going? Does anyone really care about this?
