We couldn't resist holding a t-shirt folding class on Saturday. Why? It was back to school this past weekend when we volunteered at the 11th Annual Festival of Books, sponsored by UCLA and the Los Angeles Times. Over 131,000 Passionate Readers and 370 Famous Authors joined over 300 Exhibitors in a world of fiesta and fun. This free event is gargantuan! And oh my gosh, so well-organized... getting better and better each year.
Not always the organizer-in-charge, we just drove the American Cinemaquetech van from their Hollywood offices during the wee-hours of Saturday morning. Overlooking Royce Hall, we loaded-in film and entertainment posters, t-shirts, and dozens of boxes of books and supplies. The Cinemaquetech hopes to bring in over $1,000 to cover their screening and education programs at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica and the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. Maybe not much to some standards, but thousands of film calendars and sponsorship packages are handed out.
Before the booth opened, we couldn't resist holding a small organizing session with some of the younger Cinemaquetech volunteers: an impromtu t-shirt folding class using some Office Depot clipboards. Gotta have the booth neat and tidy! It was all good fun.
