There's a new weblog bursting into town. Apartment Therapy LA has hit the mean streets of SoCal edited by Alec Holland. And OrganizingLA is honored to have been placed on the hot seat with a brief mention on August 26th. Click here to read the mention and continue reading for more on Apartment Therapy LA:
Apartment Therapy LA is a new West Coast version of Apartment Therapy NYC, co-founded by Oliver Ryan and Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan. A "community hub" of sorts, Apartment Therapy "connects people to the resources they need to redecorate their home while reducing their reliance on stuff." We couldn't agree more. Gillingham-Ryan (himself an Interior Designer and frequent magic-maker on HGTV's Mission Organization) transforms cramped, New York City spaces into a place more livable. My fav Gillingham-Ryan technique: "let's put it in the Out-Box-- trust me!"
A tongue-in-cheek Apartment Therapy April Fool's e-mail prank sent earlier this year saw this Professional Organizer fall onto his spring-time pool deck: AT announced: "Design Within Reach Founder Rob Forbes released a company-wide statement that DWR has acquired the Pottery Barn/Williams Sonoma empire and would immediately begin to sell tasteful reproductions of early American design, specifically Shaker tables and Adirondack chairs." Gillingham-Ryan comments "What is Philippe Starck going to do to pay the rent?" I say: My jaw dropped and I slipped off my deck chair. Read the Apartment Therapy post here where they quote Forbes as saying "this modern era is over. The future of great design is in reclaiming the 19th century."
Now, I ask OrganizingLA Blog readers, would this announcement make you drop your Blue Plate?
