  • Tuesday is the Most Productive Day of the Week

What day of the week is your most productive day?

ProductivityAccording to an Accountemps nationwide survey of 150 senior executives, 57% said Tuesday is the most productive day of the week.  Do you agree?

Coming in a distant second (12%) was Monday.  Max Messner, a representative for Menlo Park, Calif. Accountemps said Monday is a catch-up day– following the weekend.  Many regularly scheduled meetings also take place on Monday which can decrease the time open to complete tasks the incoming week.

These results seem to mirror the same number in 2002, 1998 and 1987 surveys.

Accountemps offers the following advise for getting organized:

    • Make a plan
    • Sharpen your focus
    • Limit distractions
    • Don’t delay
    • Recharge

What day of the week do you feel you are most productive?

  • Beautiful and Organized or Beautiful and DIS-organized?

    Holly_bridget_and_kendra_of_girls_n

We occasionally catch Girls Next Door, E!'s reality series about the trials and tribulations of three of Hugh Hefner's girlfriends and their life inside the Playboy Mansion.

Hefner's Holmby Hills Hotties — Kendra Wilkinson (pictured below left), Holly Madison (center), Bridget Marquardt (right) and are always getting into scenarios that give a glimpse of how difficult being a sex kitten really is.

    Tv_guide_girls_next_door_interview

But what we really watch the show for is to see how the girls actually live, in their private quarters.  Messy, with clothes on the floor, makeup on counters and general disarray, it's understandable that beauty is  a job in itself, and that job takes away from organizing and picking up after yourself.  The main house (they live in another house on Hef's property) always seems to be party-perfect.

In Matt Webb Mitovich's TV Guide interview, the "Blonde Mafia" (as he calls them) are indeed far from perfect.  Kendra says Holly is a perfectionist.  She's always on time and on top of her projects.  Both Holly and Bridget say Kendra's worst quality is organization.  Here is a snippit from the TV Guide Interview:

TVGuide.com: This week's episode concerns the mansion's New Year's Eve bash and your individual resolutions. Kendra, your goal was to get better organized, and you have Julie McCullough helping you out. How do I get a former Playmate to lend a hand with household chores?

Kendra Wilkinson: [Laughs] You have to live next door to one, to begin with!

TVGuide.com: How is that resolution going for you?

Kendra: Oh, my room? It's horrible. It's worse than before! After that [episode], I had to travel a lot, and then I had to do taxes and stuff…. I had to tear my room up.

Bridget Marquardt: I knew that wasn’t going to last! [Laughs]

So this leads us to think.  Suppose you have two beautiful women (or a guy– you get the drift) in front of you.  One is organized, one is disorganized.  Which one would you pick?

  • Is It Too Girlie To Pamper Dad With a Closet Clean-Out?

Kelly_ripa_2Mother’s Day is gone and past.  But what about Dad?  Don’t forget him, too.

Kelly Ripa, who starred as Hayley Vaughan in the soap opera All My Children and most recently, for replacing Kathie Lee Gifford on the Regis Philbin show believes the best gift you could give Mom last Mother’s Day is a good old-fashioned closet clear-out:

"A no fail Mother’s Day gift for a [busy woman] would be something she normally wouldn’t do herself, like hire someone to clean out her closets."

We couldn’t agree more!  But what about Dad?  After all, Father’s Day is approaching on June 17.

Dads need to be pampered too– and they’re all about ready-to-wear. While they may not wear Michael Kors and a La Roche dress like Kelly Ripa, they want to look good, without much effort, and save time.

From our experience, men love to be able to focus and have it easier when they’re getting ready for the office, the golf course, or Sunday dinner.  They love all their favorite shirts at eye level, hangers that match, ties and belts hanging at the ready and all those miscellaneous buttons, collar-stays, collar expanders and cuff links in neatly marked jars.  Telescoping valet rods help those time-crunched mornings too, because the guys can choose their clothes the night before to save time.

But sometimes guys feel like it may be too feminine to organize their closet, or to re-access their dressing needs.  So we thought we’d ask for some feedback from readers.  Do you think it’s too girlie to give Dad some help this Father’s Day with a little (professional) closet-clearing clutter therapy?

Take our reader poll, and if you have time, voice your opinion using the comment feature below.  Let’s see what we all collectively think about men and closet organization.

  • Hollywood Hills Fire: Are You Prepared for a Disaster?

    Fire_in_the_hollywood_hills

Global warming finally arrived in Tinseltown when a fire broke out in the Hollywood Hills, threatening the Hollywood Sign, million dollar homes, Warner Bros. and Universal Studios.

Friday’s rush-hour fire burned over 150 acres and reminded Angelinos that the city really hasn’t been hit with any disasters for a long time.  It’s been over 10 years since the Northridge Quake, O.J. and the Malibu fires above PCH.  But watching the news yesterday, people talked about evacuating their homes and only taking themselves, and their pets.  So it makes you wonder the important papers, birth certificates, social security cards and family memorabilia they are leaving behind.

So in this weekend’s reader poll, we ask:  How prepared are you (in general) for a disaster?  Do you have your important papers at the ready to-grab-and-go?  Do you store even minimal emergency food and water under the staircase?  Answer our poll, and share you opinions in the comments section below.

As for me, I am heading out for some bottled water and a few canned goods, just in case.
