How Would You Organize A House Haunted By Ghosts?

"Don't blame a ghost if you can't find your keys."

A new friend of ours on Facebook and Twitter is Melissa Van Russum.  Russum is an Atlanta-based Ghost Guide, psychic and empath.

It was on Russum's blog, where we read about Nicholas Cage's haunted New Orleans home in the French Quarter.  And this reminded us of the ghost we "worked" with a few months ago in a large Mediterranean style home in an older part of the Hollywood Hills between Laurel and Nichols Canyon think The Shining).  When we interviewed for the project, the home owners asked us if we were afraid of ghosts.  In over four years of business, we'd never had that question- I simply shrugged my shoulders and said "Don't blame a ghost if you can't find your keys." That wasn't quite what they meant, I know.

Los Angeles Professional Organizer Organizes Ghosts Our visit at the house consisted of unpacking bedrooms, paperwork and supplies and setting the spaces up.  We already feel a little creepy anyway in a house where no one is around.  And if we're working in some grand Hollywood mansion built in the 1920s or 30s, the cold plaster walls, creaky pipes, tight crawlspaces, secret bookcases and dusty wine cellars lend itself to the imagination.  I left one of my brave assistant organizers alone in the bedroom where the ghost apparently inhabits and no paranormal dis-organizing activitity ensued.

So after three weeks of working on and off in the house, no sign of ghosts, no strange drafts, no small child riding a big wheel through the dark hallways.  The answer is, we don't really know how to organize a house haunted by Ghosts.  But do you?

John, Do you know the date of the photo in this post? It looks very old. I’ve never seen a photo of Hollywoodland that conjures the same feel. All the photos I’ve seen are of nice buildings, etc. This is almost ‘run down’ looking.
I’d love to see a photo from the same angle today.

Wild, John! I too love the black and white photo with Hollywoodland in the background! Very neat!
On a related note, Christmas Boy swears we had a ghost in our house a few years ago. Another of our friends verified it, but I never experienced her myself.

This summer I had a client who needed a investment property cleared out of stuff in the attic and basement. The home was quite old, built 1920’s, and abandon for 20+ years. As I worked, I could feel something present in both areas.
In the attic, the feeling was sad and lonely. Sounds crazy, but it’s what I felt. I just kept reassuring that I was there to help. The basement was cold and evil, downright creepy. I just cleared the items as quickly as possible.
After the project was done, my client was surprised how much better the home felt. Hesitantly I told her what I experienced during the project. She completely understood and told me a bit more about the home.
Guess if you run into any more hauntings, let me know. I’m up for the challenge.

    Hi John,
I am currently working in a house in Wilmington, NC where there seemingly have been no deaths in the house, the drawers are not on springloaded slides and nothing outrageous ever seems to have happened. Yet as I stood in the doorway to the kitchen contemplating next moves a kitchen drawer flew open. I laughed and told the “entity” “Oh no you did not just do that” turned to my client and told her she had a ghost in the house. I am a true believer.
