  • CNET News Green Tech Quotes John Trosko

    Key_art_cnet_news

Thanks to a reader, we discovered some press from our Alliance for Universal Power Supply Conference speech at PG & E headquarters in San Francisco this past summer.

From CNET News, a popular website for news and commentary on energy innovation and environmental technologies:

"Oh, what a tangled web we weave when plugging in and powering personal electronics whose chargers are so varied that they typically end up balled up in rat's nests beneath our desks."

"Help, albeit slow, is on the way, according to members of consumer electronics companies, green-tech start-ups, and venture capital firms at the Alliance for Universal Power Supplies conference Friday."

"Attendees charging ahead to create power supplies that cause fewer headaches and wasted energy found hope when Westinghouse announced that it will support standards from start-up Green Plug, whose Greentalk protocol enables devices and power sources to "talk" to each other."

"John Trosko, a professional personal organization consultant in Los Angeles, said his clients stash useless cables in drawers indefinitely because they feel guilty about the potentially toxic trash and aren't sure how to recycle it."

  • The Importance of Being Organized – Interview

    RedBarn

We were interviewed this summer by Candice Brokenshire, a Laguna Beach-based Professional Life and Business Coach and owner of Red Barn Coaching.  Introduced through a friend of a client, it was at the Griddle in West Hollywood where we began our friendship.

I was really honored when Candice asked if she could interview me for her blog, The Red Barn Cooperative.  How could I say no to Candice while dining over french press coffee, flapjacks dotted with rainbow sprinkles and chili with chocolate chips?

Here's a sample of the interview:

"… when you shop for something and bring it home, you assume the responsibility for the care, maintenance and storage of that item. You take the responsibility for putting (or not putting) something away in a cabinet or drawer when you’re finished using it. You can chose to have your space a mess or make tiny steps necessary to keep it somewhat tidy. If you shift your thinking and put value and responsibility into your choices and actions, you’re more bound to want to take care of your possessions and increase your chances of maintaining your space."

  • Victoria Beckham’s Closet is Like Aladdin’s Cave

    Victoria Beckham

    Victoria Beckham is under crisis.

The former Spice Girl is having a major closet dilemma these days.  According to the Daily Mirror (who says this story is an exclusive– we love that), Beckham house is so "jam-packed that Posh has been forced to ship crate loads of clothes back to the UK to store at Beckingham Palace, Hertfordshire."

It's no secret that Victoria is a lover of fashion.  In fact, she premiered her new clothing line at this week's Fashion Week, along with a rocking new hair cut.  Here's more from the UK article:

"The friend told the Mirror: "Victoria's stuff takes up the space of an average family home and it's just about fit to burst. When they were looking at property in LA, it wasn't just about needing room for the children – it was also about the clothes.

"Victoria has the largest walk-in wardrobe you have ever seen. It's like an Aladdin's cave. And as well as that she has two other rooms dedicated to storage. There are drawers and boxes full of sunglasses, scarves, bracelets, hats, gloves, belts, all labeled, coded by color and some by designer."

How unfortunate?  Perhaps she needs GardeRobe?  Or maybe our friend Barbra Horowitz?  Perhaps she needs to grab a copy of our new book?

  • Get Organized with Rubbermaid – Circa 1971 – Weekend Video

Welcome to the weekend when we post reader video recommendations.

Check out this Rubbermaid video which aired on television sets across the United States.  From what we've read, Rubbermaid ran several successful campaigns using classic storybook characters.  Now, how sexist is this video?  The woman in the shoe?  What would Sarah Palin say?

If you're reading our blog on RSS or Feedblitz, click here to get over to the main site and watch this quick video.  So much fun.  Does you think she needs to organize that patchwork quilt she's wearing as an apron? One thing for sure, the ad is relative genius because it shows how a busy woman can get even a small space organized.

These videos are for the amusement of our weekend blog readers.  We're continuing to feature organizing videos that are satirical, irreverent, smart or just plain fun.  If you are reading the blog on RSS or Feedblitz and want to see the videos you should click over to the main site.

Do you have a video you'd like to have us feature?  Check out this post first, then email us.
