  • 10 Reasons Why The Next President Needs To Be An Organizer

    Whitehouse

Two of our highly respected organizing colleagues Shawn Kershaw and K.J. McCorry have a wild sense of humor.

Shawn is a corporate organizing consultant from Philadelphia and K.J is an efficiency and productivity expert working out of Boulder, Colorado.  At National NAPO Conference in Reno recently Shawn and K.J. both came up with this fun list for the presidential elections.

The top 10 reasons why the next President of the United States needs to be an organizer:

      1. When the red phone rings at 3:00 in the morning, the new President has to be able to find it.
      2. It will save the tax payers money. Having an Organizer as President won’t need an appointment secretary, banquet manager, Chief of Staff, research assistant.
      3. There would be a constitutional amendment, banning Post it Notes, "Annual Retentive" would be spoken of with pride and there would be no clutter left behind!
      4. Organizers are detailed oriented. "Who ordered the 2nd Coke?" "Who ordered the second air strike?"
      5. FranklinCovey has new line of planners with the Presidential Seal.
      6. An organized would immediately have found the Weapons of Mass Destruction because they would have been filed under W (duh).
      7. So, when we have a nuclear attack we are not thinking, "now hmmm where did I put that code?"
      8. At least there is a test to be a Certificated Professional Organizer (CPO).
      9. Then we are pretty much guaranteed it will be a woman.
      10. Because On Day 1, an organizer president will establish a new National Health Plan, secured Social Security, solved the housing slump, reestablished the US as a Superpower and, IF THERE IS TIME, address Global Warming.

Who says we can’t laugh at ourselves?

Readers– You may not be on the quest for the White House, but what kinds of things have you been able to accomplish with better organization?  We want to hear about your victories.

  • Dell Inspiron 530 – We’re Ready to Rock and Roll

    Inspiron_530

Following National NAPO Conference in Reno we did away with the old, and welcomed the new.

Dell_dimension_4100My tech support pro Steve purchased our office a new Dell Inspiron 530 and as of now, we couldn’t be happier.  Our new Dell replaces a Dell Dimension 4100 (pictured right) purchased just prior to 9-11.

What went from a clunky 512MG of RAM (we think somewhere more memory was installed, who who remembers) and a mass of various downloads, software, wires, and completely nonfunctional technology into something sleek, clean and forward thinking.  Now, we’re happily on Windows Vista with 4 times the memory– 2GB.

We learned a few things along the way, allow us to share them with you.

  • Organizing Napkins

    Cocktailnapkins_2

Now why can’t we think of these things?

This past week at the National Association of Professional Organizers Conference in Reno, Nevada, we attended two days of leadership training for incoming Chapter Presidents.

Various colleagues Janine Adams, Wendy Davie (visting from Christ Church, New Zealand) and Laura Leist were on hand for the fun.  On the meeting tables, we enjoyed coffee and snacks alongside these cheeky cocktail napkins from Murry’s Law.

"I’ll do it!  Oh let me!  I can organize that!  Pick me!

They’re only $4.50 in packs of 20.  Fun.  What do you think?

  • Reese Witherspoon Spends 3 Hours Organizing Her Sock Drawer

    Reesewitherspoon_2

It's nice to know we have at least one thing in common with A-lister Reese Witherspoon.

No, it's not the long flowing blonde hair.  It's our passion for organizing.  Apparently, one of our favorite actresses loves all things organized and clutter-free.  Just a few weeks ago, the Oscar-winning star of such hits as Legally Blonde and Walk the Line was quoted as saying:

"I'm a big organizer person. I can spend a good three hours on a sock drawer. It's fantastic."

We couldn't agree more, professionally speaking of course.

You may, or may not be a fan of organization as much as Ms. Witherspoon.  But if you were, what room of the house (or office) could you spend hours and hours in, organizing away?  For us, it's anything paper or the garage.  What about you?

Thanks to the magnificent LM for the tip– who swears she only reads these magazines when receiving a pedicure, by the way.
