  • Today’s Astrology Lesson for Pisces – Get Organized

    Get_organized

Astrology.com says today is the day to get organized, if you are a Pisces:

"Today it might be time for a clean sweep — both literally and figuratively. You’ll feel better when there is less clutter and more clarity in your world, so get rid of things (and people) that you just don’t need anymore.

It’s a great idea to stay busy doing things that make your environment better, like cleaning and organizing. Try to do some house cleaning, laundry or other chores before the late afternoon, when your energy is going to be flagging."

Get rid of people that you don’t need anymore?

  • Heloise Offers Moving and Relocation Tips

    Heloise_logo

The Hints from Heloise column last week offered some great moving tips.

The tips are great for any region you live in, whether it’s Los Angeles or elsewhere.  Here is a sample, written by a couple who just completed their 13th move.

    • Use different colors of duct tape to label boxes and furniture for each room. For example, yellow duct tape for the kitchen and dining room, white for basement, etc. For fragile items, we use bright-orange tape and write "fragile" on it. This is in addition to room-identification tape.
Use a permanent marker to label the colored tape.
    • For furniture, we stick a piece of blue masking tape on first (the kind you use for painting — it comes off easily) and then a piece of the colored duct tape on it for the room it goes in.
Draw a diagram on poster board of your new residence. Label each room with the color tape and place at the main entrance.
    • Draw a diagram on poster board for each room with the location of furniture, and place it on the door frame of the specific room. Also, label the top of the poster with the color tape for that room.

  • Brilliant Thoughts on Organization – from 1968

    Ashleigh_brilliant

This image is brilliant, and was created in 1968!

When I worked at Walt Disney Feature Animation here in Los Angeles (now known as Walt Disney Animation Studios) everyone– everyone, regardless if they were an artist or not, was encouraged to submit caricatures for the annual "Caricature Show" in the Hat-building’s second-floor concourse.  Oh dear, people are so unkind!  So much fun.

That’s why when readers submit these cartoons we’re especially interested in them.  This is Santa Barbara, CA- based Ashleigh Brilliant’s "My life is already complicated enough, without trying to introduce organization into it."

  • Global Warming Hasn’t Helped Cramped Dresser Drawers

    Global_warming

The above cheeky picture shows how global warming has affected our choice of undergarments.

Dresser_2But if scanties, snuggles, skivvies, and smalls are indeed getting smaller and smaller, you’d think our dressers would benefit, and have a little room-to-breath?

What do you think?  How stuffed are your drawers?

  • Ross the Intern Says Returning Clutter is Kicking His Butt

Ross_matthews_intern_3Ross Matthews, the lovable Intern who rose to super-stardom on the Tonight Show is very organized.  Or so Ross claims.

Matthews writes on his NBC blog last Sunday:

"most rooms in my house are totally clean and organized all of the time. Seriously. Any day of the week you could walk into my kitchen or living room and they’d be oddly neat and clean. My guest room? Always spotless. My home office? You could eat off the desk!"

"But, umm… my bedroom is another story. I swear, I clean it all the time. It’s totally clean… underneath all the crap – piles of unorganized papers, stacks of folded clean clothes waiting to be put away and mountains of dirty clothes overflowing out of the hamper."

"It’s a never ending cycle and it’s kicking my butt."

Does Ross’ story sound familiar to you?  The Celebrity Fit Club talent is sponsoring "conquering the clutter" comments on his blog– post your challenges and what you are doing to tackle them.

Because Ross lives in Los Angeles, perhaps he could benefit from some of our organizational and time management coaching?
