Editorial Cartoonist Steve Breen acknowledges that there is more sophistication in the way junk imports are coming from China.

In the days of our grandparents, quaint gifts and "antiques" came from this region.  But with trade markets continuing to open up, and America’s passion for purchasing cheap, disposable "junk" — we’re well on our way to overload.  Doncha’ think?

And unfortunately, China has been involved with many tainted products lately. See what The Consumerist calls the Chinese poison train.

The Chinese have had unethical, faulty, and downright dangerous business practices for years and they are finally now being exposed to the mainstream market, which frankly, I think is a good thing. Perhaps it will make companies think twice about importing from a country where you really DON’T know what you’re getting.
