Manhattan Self-Storage Company Uses Controversy to Increase Rentals

Parisand_tinkerbellOne Manhattan self-storage company is getting aggressive with their advertising.

Page Six from the New York Post is reporting that Paris Hilton is not too amused that the facility is using her celebrity image to promote their units.

"… Hilton is slammed in Manhattan Mini Storage ads that recently appeared on phone kiosks showing a Chihuahua who looks a lot like [her dog] Tinkerbell with the slogan: "Your closet’s so shallow, it makes Paris look deep.""

It seems that no one is off-limits.  Republicans, and presumably President Bush, have expressed some concern over ads that mock them, too:  "Your closet’s scarier than Bush’s agenda."

Bad taste!  But will it bring in more business?  What do you think?

John, is it legal for someone to use another person’s likeness without their permission? I didn’t think so.

    Hi Monica!
    Thanks (again) for the comment!
It is not legal. However, they did it. I think the storage company got in more trouble because it was done in a disparaging way, and not in a nice way.

Of course self-storage unites are very comfortable, as for me I move from one place to another very often now and I’d better keep something in storage then to move it every time.

There are a great many reasons that come up for me to use storage in Santa Monica or wherever I am at the time. Seems silly when it turns into a something like this
