  • Instinct Magazine To Feature Our Organizing Tips in Spring Fashion and Home Design Issue

07_feb_homemagcov_4I’ve just finished writing an organizing article for the March Spring Fashion & Home Design issue of Instinct Magazine.

Instinct is funny, hip, irreverent and enjoys itself as America’s #1 gay men’s magazine often being referred to as a clever mix of Cosmo and Details for gay men.  We’re so honored to contribute.

Along with our Editor (JR), we’ve enthusiastically put together a useful article on reclaiming a cluttered life and teaching you to be more productive in your home and your relationships.  There is a bit written about our company, but I really wanted people to be able to walk away with tips just about anyone could learn from.  The March issue will also feature a website bonus, with special organizational products I love.

Instinct Magazine can be found at major newsstands nationwide, including Borders, Barnes & Noble and Virgin Megastores.

  • Sharpie – The $10,000 Magic Marker

Sharpie2_1With Valentine’s Day coming in less than 2 weeks, why not splurge on the ultimate, decadent office organizing product for your beloved?

State Street Jewelers in Illinois dotted this Sharpie magic marker with over 1,300 hand-placed Swarovski crystals. The “Celebrity Edition” was created for Sharpie’s Autographs for Action charity auction in Miami.

Proceeds for the auction will help fund over $1,000,000 in supplies and cash to community organizations, charities and schools across the United States.

We’d be worried about accidentally tossing the pen in the washing machine with our jeans.

  • RSS Readers – We’re Now Publishing Full Feeds

FeediconIf you’re reading the OrganizingLA Blog through RSS or Feedblitz, you know we only publish partial posts, until now.

Beginning today, we’re switching to full text feeds.

Full feeds will provide a superior customer service experience and put you in total control. As we personally get more in tune with RSS, PDA and Mobile content ourselves, we’ve realized how frustrating it is to read truncated posts and have to click over to the main site.  With full text feeds, you decide how much you want to read.

So please stop by once in a while and let us know your thoughts!

  • Los Angeles Woman Living Amid Garage Clutter Dies in Fire

Last week, we wrote about a woman living in a suburb south of Los Angeles who was facing eviction because of hoarding.

Her highly publicized court date is scheduled for February 23 when she will ask a Judge for more time to find a home.  Click here to catch up on her story.

LacountyfireOn the heels of this story comes another, but with tragic consequences.

LA Daily News Staff Writer Judy O’Rourke writes about a woman was killed Wednesday when a fire broke out in her garage, in Newhall, a suburb north of Los Angeles.

The victim is believed to be Darcy Seegar, 52, who had been recently evicted from her apartment and was living amid clutter in the unit’s garage, which was filled with "boxes, a computer, shelves, pillows, loads of books, an armoire and other items."

Flames engulfed the makeshift living quarters, trapping her inside.

We don’t know what to say.  This is horrible.
