Real Simple Magazine and Home Depot are sponsoring a Sweepstakes to Get You Organized. Hurry, contest appears to end November 6th, just in time for Holiday decorating and de-cluttering. Make sure you read the end of this post for some important advise should you win.
One winner will have a Real Simple organizing expert revamp his or her home, "from top to bottom, so that every space is used efficiently."
A quick look at the official contest rules states that the winner will receive:
- $4,500 Home Depot Gift Card
- $500 Home Depot custom efficiency consultant session
- $2,000 worth of organizing products from Real Simple
- $400 Personal Organizer session provided by Real Simple
One warning and one suggestion about this contest: The actual sessions with a Professional Organizer and the Efficiency Consultant cannot exceed four-hours in length. You’ll need to either videotape (if they’ll allow that– and this may sound like overkill) or take copious (and we mean copious) notes. After they leave, you’re on your own to fulfill the physical process of clutter manipulation. And all the organizing products on Earth won’t save you unless you take a hard look at your buying binges, and any shop-and-drop pack rat habits you may enjoy. Four hours will only give you a game plan.
If you win, we would suggest starting in one of these places:
- The place where you’ll get the biggest bang for the buck (small front closet, bedside drawers, etc.)
- The location that is causing you the most grief (ie; front-entry way, office, kitchen)
- Some place you can create a refuge, so you can relax in beauty and serenity while the rest of the house is in clutter management.
