Top 11 Locations Where You Can Cut the Clutter
When a fire destroyed her home, Betsy Kramer discovered what is truly important in life. She now shares her knowledge with others, through her professional organizing business Cash In Clutter, based in Elysburg, Pennsylvania, three hours west of Philadelphia.
Here's a bit of Betsy's bio:
"When I lost everything tangible in my life, I felt very vulnerable. Digging through bags of donated clothes I felt very humble. Surrounded by only my family and not my things I felt very loved. Through it all I discovered who I was. It was such a blessing."
"Dr. James Dobson, a popular Evangelist, claims that Americans are living their lives in a “routine panic.” We have put such a high importance on things that the people in our lives often suffer."
In Betsy's column for Clever Parents, she notes the 11 top places where clutter accumulates:
- Cleaning detergents
- Pots and pans
- Condiments
- Magazines
- Medicine cabinet
- Car
- Purse
- Diaper Bag
- Bookcase
- Make-up
- Linens
Of course Betsy offers advise on cutting that clutter. Check those out too as well as her other articles. She certainly has a point of view to talk about all this.
Can you think of other areas around the home (or office) where stuff accumulates?

I don't think Betsy has been in any of my clients homes! Books, Toys, Paper and Clothing are by far my top choices for clutter people have in their homes. And for PLACES clutter accumulates I would nominate the Dining Room Table, Bedroom chairs and the floor in front of any empty wall. : )

I think Betsy had an amazing response to such a devastating event.
I also vote for tables, chairs and any other flat surface off the floor (heck, even the floor!).

I was surprised where stuff accumulates according to Betsy. With my clients it is on chairs in any room, in the linen closets and children's rooms as well as play rooms and where ever they open the mail.
